Well, Marc has to be in the hospital for a while. Every day is another round of “good news/bad news”.. but some days it just seems like there’s more bad than good.
Let’s recap, shall we? First Marc’s potassium levels were high, resulting in his being admitted to the hospital on April 18th. Since then his creatinine has gone up several times. It means impaired kidney function.
Initially it was thought that it was because of the prescriptions he was on. The nephrologist has taken him off them. Yet his creatinine levels kept increasing rather then getting lower. It’s all very soul crushing.
My Marc Thomas is a wonderful man. When we were just friends, he helped me out many times. Part of the reason I fell in love with him. I don’t want to lose him.
The Doctor who is looking after him in the hospital is lovely. ALL of Marc’s doctors have been great.
Here’s where it gets dark. In order for Marc to live, someone has to die.
This is confusing as fuck.
My sister has put herself out there as a living donor. But when I talked to the transplant unit they thought that considering his status he may get called soon.
It’s “motorcycle season” . Transplants increase .
So here’s where it gets even weirder…. As much as Marc Thomas and I want him to live, it may involve someone else dying. So it’s a double edged sword.
So many times prior to Marc getting this seriously ill we would see people on motorcycles pass on on the highway and he’d say “there goes my new liver”.
It was funny at the time. Now we are hoping for a new liver for Marc (the transplant team thinks this could happen soon with the nice weather…) and another medical professional said today that transplants happen HUGE over May 2-4.
In order for Marc to live, someone else has to die.
Scary as Fuck.
AND…here’s the thing. It’ s www.beadonor.ca month. Only 31 % of Ontarians are registered donors. Many people think they are, but they are not. More than 1500 people in Ontario need a transplant. PLEASE REGISTER.
If you can’t do anything, just cheer for the Senators. 😛
Do it for Marc.
